Pediatrics Office Policies

Phone Calls

Our phones are open throughout the regular office hours. We do not have a designated phone hour because we believe you should have access to the office throughout the day. If you have a routine question, the doctor will try to return your call in between patients.  If the situation is urgent, just let the staff know you need immediate help.

The office hours are 9 am to 5 pm.  We do not close for lunch.

After hours, if you have an immediate need, please call the office number and you will get the answering service.  The service will contact the provider on call and get back to you.  This process usually takes less than 15 minutes.  If you have not had a call back in 30 minutes, please contact the answering service again.

If your child needs emergency room care, we prefer Hasbro Childrens' Hospital if possible.  Hasbro is a teritary children's hospital capable of handling all pediatric problems.

Prescription Refills and Completion of Various Forms

Prescriptions should be called in during regular office hours. Please allow 48 hours notice for all refills when possible. We do not do prescription refills evenings or weekends. We do require 48 hours to fill out forms for school etc.  At each well child visit, we give you the universal state form with a copy of the child's vaccines.  This form usually can be used for school, camps and daycares.

 Appointments

It is our policy to have an annual complete physical exam.  Due to the increase in patient volume, we recommend booking appointments at least 6 months in advance so that we can accomadate the day and time that works best for you.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we require 24 hours notice.  The office does make an attempt to confirm your appointment a few days before but keep in mind, your appointment  is your responsibility.  There are times when the office staff is too busy to confirm appointments.
